Proverbs 20:6
“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” Faithfulness is rare today, while selfishness abounds. It seems as though we are more concerned with ourselves than ever before. Psalm 12:1 “Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.” Proclaiming our own goodness is a dangerous thing. Matthew 6:2 “Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” Promotion is from the Lord; it is not something we can manipulate ourselves. Anything we achieve on our own is sure to fail, but that which God ordains and constructs will never falter. Ecclesiastes 3:14 “I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.” John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” It is wise to be faithful, for He is Faithful. 1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” A true Christian desires to be like Christ; therefore since He is Faithful, may we allow seek to be faithful in everything that we do.
