Psalm 119:5
“O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!” We should not take one step of faith without being directed by the Word of God. In order for our ways to be directed we must put our trust in the Lord, and lean on His understanding instead of our own. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Our flesh desires to go in the complete opposite direction that God would have us to do so. This is why doing the right thing is sometimes the hardest things to do; but if we look into the Word we will find the direction we need. Proverbs 16:9 “A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” God desires to direct our steps through His Word. He wants to guide us in the way we should go, if only we would take the time to read and meditate upon what He has to say. Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must seek His direction through His Word.
