Proverbs 19:9
“A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.” Lying has its consequences. A similar verse appears just four verses beforehand: Proverbs 19:5 “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.” We will find ourselves imprisoned when we neglect to tell the truth. One lie is never enough; more lies must cover up the original indiscretion. The only way to find freedom is to know the Truth. John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The walls of our prison will eventually come crashing down upon us if we refuse to allow the Truth to set us free. Satan is the father of lies, and he desires to turn our prison into our deathbed. The greatest lie we can believe is when the devil tries to convince us that religion is enough. Matthew 7:21-23 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Allow the Word of God to shine within your heart today and reveal the Truth. Your eternity depends upon it. Bible Reading: Genesis 17-18 | John 9 | Proverbs 9
