Proverbs 28:7
“Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.” Keeping the Law involves four simple steps, that were described in detail during the first few weeks of our study of the Book of Proverbs. (Refer to posts from July 14 & 15, 2017) Receive & Hide Proverbs 2:1 “My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;” Incline & Apply Proverbs 2:2 “So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;” Cry & Lift Proverbs 2:3 “Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;” Seek & Search Proverbs 2:4 “If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;” We must intentionally do these four steps in order to receive Wisdom from the Word of God. It begins with a fear of the Lord, for that is the beginning of Wisdom. Proverbs 2:5-6 “Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” Within the pages of Scriptures are all the answers to every problem we will ever face. We must only take the time to seek out the Truth from the Word of God in order to know and intentionally keep the Law. Psalm 119:101 “I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.” Psalm 119:115 “Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.” There is Wisdom in keeping the Word of God in our hearts. Keeping the Law within our hearts is not only wise, but it brings so many more blessings upon our lives. Proverbs 3:1-2 “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” Luke 11:28 “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 25-26 | Colossians 4 | Proverbs 1
