Only ten verses within the first chapter, Solomon addresses the issue that plagues us all…sin.
Proverbs 1:10 “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” There is no way around it…we are all sinners. Even after we are saved, we are simply sinners saved by grace. Sin is still enticing. Proverbs 1:11-14 “If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:” Solomon warns that we will be persuaded to sin. The devil has a game plan in order to catch us off guard. Proverbs 1:15 “My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:” Our Strategy Against Sin Since the enemy has a plan of attack, we must also have a strategy of how to conquer the enticing power of sin. First and foremost, we must avoid walking with those that we know are partaking in sin. We are to refrain from the same path they travel. Proverbs 1:16-19 “For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.” We will become like those we follow. Rather than consenting, we must choose to separate ourselves from the enticing of sin. Wisdom is displayed in the practice of separation. Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 7-8 | 1 Timothy 1 | Proverbs 11

Thank you for sharing these wise words. I'll always keep them in mind whenever I'm temped to make sinful acts. I know that we only have to separate ourselves from enticing sin in our lives. We have to open our hearts to God and close them to the Devil. It's our only path to an everlasting paradise after death.
