Proverbs 28:8
“He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.” Unjust gain is unwise. That which we acquire unjustly is soon to disappear. Lying to receive something is vanity. It is dangerous to receive that which we have no right to have. Proverbs 21:6 “The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.” There is nothing good about us; our righteousness is as filthy rags. Anything we receive is a gift from God, but He requires that we be honest and truthful in our character. Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” It is wise to work. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” We must work hard, with the faith that God will provide every need we have. He knows what we need before we even ask. Luke 12:29-31 “And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Rather than seek to receive unjustly, let us trust the Lord to provide.
