James 1:5
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” King Solomon loved the Lord. He was given the opportunity to ask the Lord for anything he wanted. I Kings 3:5 “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.” Can you imagine? This was not some genie in a bottle that wanted to grant him three wishes. This was the very Creator of the Universe, the Almighty God. Would you have the mental capacity to make such a wise request as Solomon did? He had wisdom before he even asked for it. I Kings 3:9 “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: who is able to judge this thy so great a people?” The Lord was pleased with Solomon’s request. He gave him the wisdom he asked for…and so much more. Just like Solomon, God will give us wisdom if we only ask for it. He will not withhold it, but will give it liberally not just to some, but to all who ask in faith. Wisdom and discernment go hand in hand, and the two are severely lacking in our day. Why? Because we have not asked for them. Christian, you need wisdom in order to endure and learn from the trial you are facing. Ask the Lord to give you an understanding heart through your trial. Ask Him to help you discern how to make the right decisions. “We should not pray so much for the removal of an affliction as for wisdom to make a right use of it.” – Matthew Henry Bible Reading: II Chronicles 27-28 | Titus 2 | Proverbs 22
