James 1:22-24
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” If we choose to only hear the Word, we live under our own wisdom rather than the Wisdom of the Word of God. We deceive ourselves when we hear but neglect to apply the Truth. Proverbs 29:19-20 “A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.” These are those who refuse to be corrected by the Word of God. Proverbs 26:2 “Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.” Applying the Truth of the Scriptures brings blessings upon our lives. James 1:25 “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” Within the pages of the Word of God there is direction and satisfaction that can only be found there. Why would we choose to look anywhere else? Hear the Word, and then apply the Word. Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 33-34 | Hebrews 1
