Deuteronomy 4:2
“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” Things that are pure have no need for something to be added or taken away from them. Proverbs 30:5-6 “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” God has preserved His pure Words for us. Yet today, there are many people who choose to add, subtract and change the Word of God to suit their own agenda. There are consequences for those who dare try to change the Word of God. Revelation 22:18-19 “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” There is no need to add or change His Word, because He does not change. Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not…” Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Acknowledging that He is immutable allows us to rest in Him. There is comfort in knowing that we can rely on Him through His Word. 2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” His grace is sufficient because His Word is Sufficient. Bible Reading: Ezra 5-6 | Hebrews 5
