Psalm 40:1
“I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” Have you ever been talking with someone and you know they do not hear you? Or perhaps they hear your voice, but it is obvious they are not listening to your words. Whether stranger, friend or family… this happens from time to time in our daily conversations because we are all flesh. Sometimes distractions get in the way. But there is One… He is never too busy. He is never distracted. He is never not listening. (Yes, double negative, but its true.) He hears us. So much so that over and over again we see this promise throughout His Word. He reminds us that He will hear us, if only we will call upon Him. He hears our call, our cries, our complaints, our burdens, our rants, and even our ramblings. Psalm 3:4 “I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.” Psalm 18:6 “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” Psalm 34:4 “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Jonah 2:2 “And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” He hears us. Simply because He cares for His children. Every promise with the pages of Scripture are rooted in the fact that He loves and cares for us. The promises that He hears us should cause us to desire to call upon Him. Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” In order for Him to answer, He must first hear our call.
