Delighting in something is to find gladness or pleasure in it. We can receive delight from many things in this world, but true delight only comes from the Lord.
Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” When we delight in Him, our desires begin to align with His will for our lives. This does not mean that the Lord simply gives us what we want, but rather we yield our own will for His. Psalm 1:1-2 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” True delight is found within the pages of the Word of God. May we seek today to find gladness in the Scriptures. Our delight in the Lord is directly proportional to our love for His Word. Psalm 119:47 “And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must find true delight in His Word.
