Psalm 119:175
“Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.” Every breath we take is a gift from God. Here we find the Psalmist asking for more time to live, not for his own pleasure or purpose, but so that he may offer more praise unto the Creator. When God breathed into Adam’s nostrils the breath of life, man became a living soul. The purpose of man has always been to commune with and worship the LORD God. Isaiah 43:7 “Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” However, because we are born into Adam’s sin, we cannot come to God on our own. Sin separates our fellowship with Him; but God gave His only begotten Son, so that we may have eternal life through Him. Our purpose is restored through the blood of Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23-24 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” Only the redeemed can truly worship God as they yield to the Spirit of God through the Truth found within His Word. We either worship God “in spirit and in truth” or we do not worship Him at all. John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must remember our purpose is to worship Him.
