Psalm 119:159
“Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy lovingkindness.” During his prayer, David asked the Lord to consider his love for God’s Word. He had previously expressed his love and devotion earlier in the chapter. Psalm 119:97 “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.” His love for the Word was shown in his dedication to read, study, and meditate upon the Scriptures. When we make God’s Word a priority, God will reciprocate that passion as He reveals more of Himself to us. As we consider the Word of God, we must consider Him through His Word. Hebrews 12:3-4 “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” To rightly “consider him”, we must refer to the previous verse. Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Where we set our eyes of faith makes all the difference in our walk and work for His glory. May we keep our sight upon the Author and Finisher of our faith. If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must consider Him through His Word.
