Psalm 119:60
“I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.” Procrastination is an easy attribute to develop. We often put off until tomorrow what God has meant for us to do today. James 4:14-15 “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.” If we feel conviction of unconfessed sin, we should confess it now for “he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins”. 1 John 1:9 If we feel a calling to do something for the Lord, we should answer the call immediately, “For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.” Romans 11:29 Make haste in salvation. After the great earthquake, the Philippian Jailor asked Paul and Silas what he needed to do to be saved. They were quick to respond, and the Jailor was quick to repent. When we have the opportunity to share the Gospel, we cannot delay for eternity is at stake. Acts 16:30-33 “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.” Make haste in taking the next step. On the Day of Pentacost, 3,000 souls were saved. These people did not delay to follow up in Believer’s Baptism and join the church. They were baptized and added the same day they were saved. Acts 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” Regardless of what our next step in our walk with the Lord is, when He speaks to us, we must make haste to obey Him. Sometimes the next step is unclear, but we can “Trust in the Lord…and he shall direct our paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must not delay to obey His Word.
