Proverbs 21:27
“The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?” This and the next few verses teach us that without Wisdom, all we have is wickedness. God knows our thoughts and the intents of our hearts, and to bring forth an offering to Him without being clean is an abomination. Proverbs 21:28 “A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.” A religious performance leads to destruction. A clean cup full of dirty water is nothing to be desired. The wickedness of our hearts must be cleansed by the precious Blood of Jesus Christ for our offering to be pleasing to Him. Cain had good intentions, but his offering was not accepted because it was bloodless. Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice that gave witness to his righteousness. Proverbs 21:29 “A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.” Refusing reproof also leads to destruction. God has given us His Word to show us our need for Him. When we realize our sinful nature, we begin to see we are sinners in need of a Saviour. The Scriptures reveal not only our sin, but also the plan of our Salvation. Proverbs 21:30-31 “There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD. The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.” We can do nothing without Him, for there is nothing good about us. When we try to worship without Him, it is in vain. Work without Him is in vain. Religion without Him is all in vain. John 15:5-7 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast theminto the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” We have no salvation without Him. We have no success without Him. We have no sustenance without Him. Without Wisdom, we have nothing but wickedness. With Wisdom, we have everything we need. Bible Reading: Numbers 3-4 | Luke 11 | Proverbs 29-31
