Proverbs 22:14
“The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.” In the Scriptures, strange women are acquainted with foolishness because they have turned aside from the way of the Wisdom. They are strange because they have abandoned the way of the Lord. Samson and Solomon are both examples of how foolishness can destroy a life. Judges 16:20 “And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” Nehemiah 13:26 “Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.” Sin brings us into a deep pit, often before we even realize our surroundings; while grace brings us out of that pit of darkness, and brings us into the Light of Wisdom. Psalm 40:1-2 “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” He can bring us up out of any pit that sin has dug for us. Regardless of how deep you feel your pit is God has provided the Way out. You need only trust Him to carry you up and set your feet upon the Rock. When we stand upon Him, He will direct us while putting a new song in our hearts that will also show others the Way. Psalm 40:3 “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.” Trust Him today to bring you out of your pit.
