Psalm 119:63
“I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.” The company we keep is important. The phrase, “you are who you hang around”, is very true. Who we choose to be our friends, mentors, and especially our spouse sets the course to who we will become. Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Wisdom begins with having a fear of the Lord. It is wise to surround ourselves with people whose lives display a fear of the Lord. Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” When needing advice, we must seek out godly counsel in order to make our decision in light of what the Bible says. Sometimes a trustworthy godly friend can offer a new perspective that perhaps we did not see beforehand. Proverbs 27:9 “Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.” The friend who has a close walk with the Lord will encourage us to walk closer with Him ourselves. Being able to share what the Lord has given in time spent with Him is a priceless gift from God. Thank the Lord today for the godly friends in your life, for they are blessings from Him. Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Choose your companions wisely. Bible Reading: Numbers 25-26 | Luke 24
