Psalm 119:72
“The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.” We tend to seek counsel, encouragement, and pleasure from the people and things around us. David knew from experience that he could find all these things and more within the Scriptures, for he knew that the Word is better than anything money could buy. Psalm 19:7-11 “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” Wisdom is found within the Word. God desires to make us wise through our learning of the Scriptures. Proverbs 8:11 “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” David had his thousands of gold and silver, yet he esteemed the Word of God above all his riches. He willingly suffering affliction, because it caused him to understand the Truth of the Scriptures better. If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must acknowledge that the Word is better than anything we could desire. Bible Reading: Numbers 25-26 | Luke 23 | Psalm 41
