Romans 4:20-21
“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Abraham against hope believed in hope. He staggered not. He considered not his own body, which was about an hundred years old. It did not matter to Abraham what his body was telling him, He believed God’s promise. He did not consider the deadness of Sarah’s womb. God had promised that he would be the father of many nations. He did not question God or His methods. He simply believed God at His Word. Although He believed that God would do what He said He would, Abraham got ahead of God. He wanted God’s promise to be fulfilled so much so that he took matters into his own hands. He thought he needed to help God carry out His plan. Can you relate with him today? Have you ever gone ahead of the will of the Lord? You had good intentions, but in trying to fulfill God’s plan you ended up making a mess of the situation. Thankfully, we can have hope because God didn’t leave Abraham in his mess. He didn’t even acknowledge his error. He recognized Isaac as Abraham’s only son. God can look past your mistakes, and make a miracle out of your life. What has God promised you? “…the LORD thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8 “Come unto me…and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 “But my God shall supply all your need…” Philippians 4:19 “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5 Be strong in faith today and take God at His Word. Give Him the glory for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do! Standing on the promises I cannot fall, Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call; Resting in my Saviour as my All in All, Standing on the promises of God! Stand on His promises today!
