Psalm 119:76
“Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.” He had read or heard God’s Word before. He knew what the Word of God said, and he was praying in faith for the Lord’s “merciful kindness” to be his comfort because he had heard It to be true! Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” When we know God’s Word, we can then pray according to His Word… Asking while believing that He is Able. Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Asking in His Name. John 16:24 “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” Asking in faith. James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” Asking while obeying. 1 John 3:22 “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” His Word has the answer, because He is the Answer...we need only ask Him according to His Word. He will not only answer, but He will also comfort, direct, guide, and provide for us. If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must ask according to His Word.
