1 Thessalonians 5:21
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” How can we “hold fast to that which is good” if we do not have a way to distinguish whether something is good or not? The answer is in the first three words of the verse. “Prove all things” We must prove everything by examining whether something is genuine or true. Acts 17:11 “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Everything in our lives must be proved by the Word of God. If the Word says it is right, it is right. If the Word says it is wrong, it is wrong. Regardless if the world today says otherwise, the Word holds the Truth and must be our final authority for all things. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” We can only prove all things as we renew our mind through the Word of God. Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Search the Scriptures today, and hold fast to that which is good. Prove everything by the Word. Bible Reading: Numbers 3-4 | Luke 13
