March 25 - A View Of Ourselves.

Psalm 119:141
“I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.”

David was a man after God’s own heart, and therefore had a humble opinion of himself. He knew that his worth did not depend on his own abilities or riches, for he sought the Lord’s help in all that he did.

Psalm 40:17
“But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.”

God chooses to use those that seem the most unlikely to be used in our eyes.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.”

This is because God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways. We tend to look on the outside, while God looks at the heart of those who can best be used of Him.

1 Samuel 16:
“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

Our regard for the Word of God determines our worth in the sight of God.

James 1:25
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
