Psalm 119:148
“Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.” The more we allow the Word of God to consume our thoughts, the more effective we can speak about Him. Our thoughts produce our words, so why not fill our thoughts with His Word? Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” As we make an effort to meditate upon His Word more often, we will better understand what we should pray for as we ought. Our success depends upon our obedience of His Word. God has given us both the day and the night as opportunities to learn more about Him by meditating in His Word. Psalm 1:2 “But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” We can meditate upon His Word while doing something else, but we can only meditate in His Word when we open the precious pages of the Scriptures. James 1:25 “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” Meditate in His Word today, and every day.
