Psalm 119:87
“They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.” The persecution we endure at the hands of others should only cause us to cling more to the Truth of the Word of God. Encouragement In Persecution We can be encouraged that though we are troubled, perplexed, persecuted, and cast down; we are not distressed, in despair, forsaken or destroyed. There is still breath in our lungs and reason to press on ahead in the work of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” Purpose For Persecution When God allows something to occur in our lives, He always has a reason. We must remind ourselves that Jesus was persecuted so much they crucified Him. When we are persecuted we have the opportunity to be more like Him. 2 Corinthians 4:10-11 “Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” Persecution is no excuse to forsake the Word of God. Oftentimes when we need help, we seek first to find it anywhere else but the Scriptures. Psalm 44:17-18 “All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must cling more to the Word of God in times of persecution.
