March 4 - Avoiding & Discerning.

Proverbs 22:3
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”

Wisdom allows us to recognize evil and avoid it before we find ourselves in the midst of it. Abstaining from even the appearance of evil is a fruit of Wisdom. 

Job 28:28
“And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”

When we fear the Lord, He gives us discernment to realize the difference between truth and error, good and evil.

Proverbs 22:4
“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.”

God blesses those that humbly fear Him, for that is Wisdom at work in our lives. We cannot live as He desires without seeking and applying the Wisdom that He gives.

Proverbs 22:5
“Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.”

Sin brings thorns and snares; Wisdom and discernment are how we can avoid them. We must ask the Lord to help us discern and turn away when thorns appear near us.

Proverbs 15:19
“The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.”
