Proverbs 22:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” When shooting an arrow, the direction the bow is pointed determines which way the arrow will fly when it is released. The same principle applies to raising up children, the direction in which they are pointed is the way they will go. If material goods and temporal aspirations are made the priority, then they will focus on them first. This is why we must show our children how important it is to walk with the Lord. We must lead by example, and point them toward the Truth. Psalm 78:1-8 “Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.” Our greatest contribution to the work of the Lord may not be something we do, but rather someone we raise. If God has blessed you with children, you have the opportunity to share the love of Christ each day by raising them for Him. Make The Fear Of God A Priority Ephesians 6:4 “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Make The Word Of God A Priority 2 Timothy 3:15 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” If children do not know the Truth, they cannot apply the Truth to their lives. The Word of God promises us that if we train our children in the Scriptures they will not depart from the Truth. Point your children toward Him today!
