“Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.”
Rather than plead for himself to be established, the Psalmist asks for the Word of God to be established within him.
“Stablish thy word unto thy servant”
This is something that every Christian should desire.
Rather than the world seeing us, may it see Him.
Rather than others remembering what we say, may they only remember the Word of God that we spoke to them.
David desired this, and so did Paul; but do we?
As we have the Word of God established within us, may we only stand so that others may see Him.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5
“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
We must not seek the wisdom of men, but the wisdom that God has available to us if only we would ask.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
This wisdom begins with seeking God through His Word, and coming to the Scriptures with a godly fear. To fear the Lord is to have reverence for Him and each Word that He has preserved for us.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
Ask Him to establish the Word of God in your heart today.
