Matthew 6:8
“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” Before you kneel, before you bow your head, before you close your eyes… God knows what you need. Before you ask, He knows what you need for your situation. In the context of our verse today, Jesus is warning His disciples and followers that they should not use vain repetitions when they pray. Do you find yourself praying the same prayer out of habit? Especially when it comes to praying before a meal, this is easy to do…but Jesus tells us not to pray with vain repetitions like the heathen do. He already knows what we need, and He wants us to sincerely ask Him for His will in our situation. How does God know what we need before we ask? Because He is God, and there is no one else like Him! Since He inhabits eternity, He is already in our tomorrow, and He is aware of what needs will arise. Not only is He aware, but He cares for us to provide for us and supply our needs! How amazing is it to know that our Heavenly Father watches over us today, and is already preparing us for tomorrow? In times of doubt and despair, trust Him because He does all things well. He is in control of everything. He knows your name, and the number of hairs on your head. He knows everything about you, and yet He still loves you. He loved you enough to give His only begotten Son to die for your sins, to pay the debt that you could not pay. You trusted Him with your eternity; trust Him for your tomorrow. He knows who you need, what you need, when you need it, where you need it, and how you need it. He knows. Bible Reading: Ruth 4 | Romans 5 | Psalm 91
