Psalm 119:131
“I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.” Just as when we go for a prolonged amount of time without something to drink, our soul begins to pant of thirst for the Word when we neglect to partake of His Truth. Psalm 42:1-2 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” Psalm 38:10 “My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.” As our strength begins to fail, His never runs dry. When we seek Him, we will never be disappointed for we shall find Him in His Word. Psalm 63:1-2 “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.” How thirsty are we to meet God within the pages of His Word? Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must have a thirst for the Word of God.
