Psalm 119:135
“Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.” The Lord is willing to shine His Light upon our lives, if only we will ask Him to do so. Psalm 80:1,3 “Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth. Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.” The Apostle Paul saw the Light of the Lord on the road to Damascus about noon. The brightest point of the day, and His Light shined brighter than the sun in the sky, so much so that Paul could not see. What if the glory of the Lord shined so brightly around us that others could not see anything but Him? Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” The day is soon coming when we too shall look upon the face of our Saviour. His face shines so bright in our heavenly home that there is no need for light from the sun. The Son of God shall be the Light for all eternity. Revelation 22:4-5 “And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” Before we see His face, we have a commission to fulfill that we cannot do on our own. We can only shine for Him as He shines in us through His Word. John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must ask Him to shine forth His Light on us through His Word.
