Psalm 119:139
“My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.” When was the last time we had such a fervor for the things of God that it consumed us to our core? Many today have become complacent and content to just be an average Christian. God doesn't want us to settle for average, because He is able to do the impossible in us and through us, if only we are willing to yield to Him. A Zeal Against Sin The worse we see others becoming, the more we should be encouraged to do right. May we have a zeal to stand against any wicked way. A Zeal for the Saviour We are not to compare ourselves to the conduct or convictions of others, but rather to the One Who lived, died and rose again for us. May we display a zeal to live like Jesus. A Zeal for the Scriptures In order to be like our Saviour, we must have a passion to know His Word. The Scriptures reveal to us Who Jesus is. May we decide to not only know the Word, but to apply Its principles to our lives. Our zeal must be grounded within the Truth of the Word of God. Romans 10:1-4 “Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must renew our zeal for the things of God.
