Proverbs 25:11
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” The timing of our words is just as important as the words themselves most of the time. There are many times when our words are not appropriate at the time. We have all been there. We sometimes stick our foot in our mouths before we even realize the damage that we have caused. Proverbs 15:23 “A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” God can give us just the right words to speak just when someone needs to hear them, if only we will seek His direction before we open our mouths. Isaiah 50:4 “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” For us to speak words of wisdom, we must spend time with the Wisdom of the Word. The Scriptures are the very Words of our Heavenly Father that He has preserved for us to learn about Him. God breathed His Word so that we may know Him. John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” God made us; therefore He made our mouths and gave us the ability to speak. Since He is our Creator, should we not consult Him about the words we say? He will teach us what to say if only we will yield to Him before we speak. Exodus 4:11-12 “And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.” How fit are your words? Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 5-6 | Romans 5 | Proverbs 2
