Matthew 17:20
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Jesus chose to use the mustard seed, likely the smallest seed known to the Jews, as an illustration that the smallest amount of faith can make a difference. “If ye have faith…” Mustard seed faith is simply the possession of faith. Mark 4:31-32 “It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.” Seeds are meant to be planted. We must sow our faith in order to reap what only He can provide. Faith is simply our belief that He is Able even when we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The entire chapter of Hebrews 11 shows us that all things are possible through and by faith. If we have faith, we can see and experience the impossible. Matthew 21:21 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” We either have faith or we do not. Scripture tells us over and over the difference faith makes. He simply wants us to ask and believe. Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 1-2 | Romans 6
