Psalm 119:142
“Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.” The Word of God is Truth, because He is Truth. The Righteousness of God is everlasting; and because He is everlastingly Righteous, His Word is also Righteous. Jesus acknowledged that not only is God’s Word true, but He prayed that we might be sanctified through the Scriptures. John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” Jesus was born into this world so that He could proclaim the Truth. John 18:37 “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” He was born not only so that He could proclaim the Truth, but that we can proclaim the Truth also. As His children, we have been entrusted with the Truth of the Gospel, and it is our privilege to carry the Truth for all to hear. The Spirit of Truth is Who guides us through the Truth of God’s Word. Those who struggle with understanding what the Scriptures have to say have not allowed the Holy Spirit to show them. We can only proclaim the Truth as the Spirit of Truth empowers us. John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must proclaim the Truth as the Truth.
