Psalm 119:150
“They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.” When we choose to distance ourselves from the Word of God, we must be prepared for the consequences. Mischief may follow us, but we will definitely see changes within our walk with the Lord. Proverbs 28:9 “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.” Not only will our prayers not be heard, but also we cannot have faith without the Word of God in our lives. Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Without faith, it is impossible to please God. We cannot grow our walk with the Lord if we neglect to draw nigh to God through His Word. James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” Every facet of the Christian life must be grounded within the Word of God. We cannot grow if we neglect to spend time in the Scriptures. 1 Peter 2:2-3 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” If we want the Lord to order our steps, we must draw nigh to His Word.
