Proverbs 15:18
“A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” We have the choice to stir up strife or settle it. Our control over our flesh is what makes the difference. James 1:19-20 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” The flesh creates strife and thrives in the midst of it. Evil seeks to corrupt and consume the vulnerability of our flesh. We are weak in our own strength, and likely to fall when we face the wiles of the devil without the armor of God to defend us. James 3:14-16 “But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” The fruit of the Spirit defuses strife because it takes two to fight. When we yield to the Him, we will see His fruit within our life and testimony. Our weakness can be made strong as we seek to decrease ourselves so that He may increase. James 3:17-18 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” We must evaluate whether we are stirring or settling the strife around and within us.
