Proverbs 15:22-23
“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Not a day goes by that each of us does not need counsel. We cannot carry out our God given purpose without godly counsel. God gives us this counsel from two different places: His Word and His people. The Word of God is Truth because of the God of the Word. He is Truth, and He is all knowing. Psalm 119:24 “Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.” God has also given us the opportunity to be counseled by godly friends and family. He knows that we need to communicate with others to better understand what He has to say. The most important thing is that their advice lines up with what His Word says. If we find that any advice given to us is contrary to what the Word of God says, we must refuse it. Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 27:9 “Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.” Seek the counsel of God through His Word and His people today so that you can fulfill His purpose.
