Hebrews 13:15
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” It is only through the Lord Jesus Christ that we are able to point others to God instead of ourselves. Without Him, we can do nothing. John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” But through Him, we can do all things. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Anything that we do which causes others to want to praise us should only be directed to Him. We must sacrifice the praise of ourselves so that He alone gets the glory. Psalm 107:21-22 “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” There will never be a time when we will ever be worthy of the praise that He deserves. “…let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually…” 1 Peter 4:11 “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Sacrifice the praise. Sacrifice the thanks. Instead, point them to Him. Every commendation we receive is only because of Him. The fruit of our lips should always be giving thanks to Him.
