Proverbs 13:10
“Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” In every conflict, pride is present. Contention is the fruit of pride. When we find ourselves in a battle with people, we should look within our hearts to see if it has taken residence. James 3:13-16 “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” Pride is nothing but a tool of the devil to deter and distract us from God’s will for our lives. God hates pride, and resists those who possess it. James 4:6 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” Examine your heart and life today to see if pride dwells within you. Desire to be clothed with humility so that God can use you for His glory. Any advice or counsel we receive should be found within the Truth of the Scriptures. The best way to defeat our pride is to saturate our lives with the Wisdom of the Word. Bible Reading: Jeremiah 7-8 | John 13 | Proverbs 17
