2 Corinthians 4:1
“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;” Have you ever physically fainted? Maybe you hadn’t eaten all day and your body was desperate for nourishment, or you had just expended all your energy. Fainting refers to being weary to the point of exhaustion which renders us utterly spiritless. Now consider if you have ever fainted spiritually. When we find references to fainting in the Scriptures, it is often connected to yielding to the Holy Spirit of God. Before the “Therefore…” we find these two verses at the end of chapter 3. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” When we are filled with the Spirit, we find liberty are able to give God the glory He deserves. “Therefore seeing we have this ministry…” Giving Him glory is the ultimate purpose of any ministry He gives us. 2 Corinthians 4:15-16 “For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” It is a daily decision to yield to Him in order to keep from fainting spiritually. Open up His Word and allow the Truth of the Scriptures to renew you today. Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Bible Reading: Jeremiah 17-18 | Psalm 13-15
