Proverbs 13:24-25
“He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.” When a parent disciplines their child, it is because they love them and want what’s best for their children. Proverbs 3:12 “For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” God chastens His children because He loves them. Where there is no chastisement, there may be no relationship. Hebrews 12:5-8 “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.” The chastening of the Lord is confirmation that you are His child. Those that are able to continually live in the pleasures of sin without conviction, need to evaluate their fellowship with Him. We must count chastisement as one of the many blessings we have been given as His children. He loves each one of us like we are His only child, and only wants what is best for us. Rather than avoiding or ignoring God’s correction, embrace His love and allow Him to guide you in the way you should go. Bible Reading: Jeremiah 21-22 | John 20 | Proverbs 24
