Proverbs 14:4
“Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.” It is easy to complain about the messes made by children, spouses, or even church members. We like things to be normal. We resist change. We rarely offer to try something new or volunteer to work in a ministry that is just getting started, because we are unfamiliar with the territory. Complacency is easy to find. We navigate to where we are comfortable, but if we stay there we are sure to miss out on something. What have you missed because you stayed within your comfort zone? Andrew, Peter, James, and John were familiar with fishing, but only for fish. When Jesus approached them on the shores of the Sea Of Galilee that day, they were clueless about how drastic their lives were about to change. He simply said, “Follow me”, and when they faithfully obeyed, they began their journey in fishing for men instead. Matthew 4:19-20 “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.” It takes change to make a difference. These fishermen could only catch fish in their own power; but when Christ changed their lives, He gave them the strength to fish for men. His strength made the difference when they yielded themselves to Him. 2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” Where there are no messes, there are no people. When everything remains the same, there is no growth. We must be willing to endure the messes and the change, so that God can fill our lives with people we can show the love of Christ.
