Proverbs 14:10-14
“The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy. The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness. The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.” Our hearts often deceive us as to what appears to be what we need or want. Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Our fleshly hearts are desperately wicked, and we must always be conscious of this fact. When we allow our hearts to lead the way, we are headed for destruction. It is for this reason that we must diligently keep our hearts in the Word of God. Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Where is your heart leading you today?
