Psalm 27:5
“For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” When trouble arises, our flesh responds in one of two ways. Fight or flight. This is a psychological reaction, an acute stress response, that prepares us to either stay and deal with the situation or run and hide. What we often fail to realize is that we choose from the same two responses on how we deal with things spiritually. Do we attempt to fight the battle on our own? Or run and hide? The difference is the psychological and the spiritual “run and hide” have two very different meanings. One is avoidance. The other is dependence. Do we run and hide to avoid the situation? Or do we run and hide “in the secret of his tabernacle”? One is fleshly. The other is wise. Psalm 119:114 “Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” Choose to run and hide in Him today. Seek safety in His pavilion. Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” There you will find a Rock. “…he shall set me up upon a rock.” That Rock is Jesus. Psalm 61:2 “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” In the time of trouble, run and hide in Him.
