John 8:11
“She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” She. She was brought to Jesus by the scribes and Pharisees. John 8:3-4 “And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.” She was found in the act of adultery, a crime that was punishable by death by stoning. John 8:5 “Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?” They used her to tempt Jesus. John 8:6 “This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.” He ignored them at first, but they persisted. John 8:7-8 “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.” After Jesus spoke her accusers departed one by one. John 8:9 “And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.” She could have fled like the convicted accusers, yet she remained. She ended up alone with Jesus. Just her and Him. John 8:10 “When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?” She did not try to defend herself. She simply answered His question while acknowledging Who He is. She called Him Lord. She became a new creature after her experience with Jesus. The Woman In Adultery serves as an example of the transformation that can take place when we are with Jesus. Bible Reading: Amos 7-9 | 1 Peter 3 | Psalm 140

Luke 21:3-4
“And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.” She. She was among the rich, yet she was poor. Luke 21:1-2 “And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.” In comparison to how much the rich men had and how much they gave, there was no comparison to her sacrifice. While they gave of their abundance, she gave of her deficiency. She cast in all the living that she had. She gave everything. She held nothing back. She gave all that she could possibly give. She surrendered all to Him. Luke 9:24 “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” The Widow With Two Mites also serves as an example of how any sacrifice for Christ does not go unnoticed by Him. “And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” She. She was bowed together. Luke 13:11 “And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.” She was helpless. For eighteen years she had suffered at the hand of Satan, until she met Jesus. Luke 13:12 “And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” She was healed. After Jesus spoke to her, she was never the same. Luke 13:16 “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” The Woman With A Spirit Of Infirmity serves as an example for us to remember what Christ has brought us from. Romans 5:20-21 “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” We were all bound in sin before we met Him. “The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.” She. She proved Solomon with hard questions regarding his wisdom. 2 Chronicles 9:1 “And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.” Jesus referred to her as He rebuked the Jews for the sign they were seeking. Luke 10:30 “For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.” He was the Sign they were looking for, yet they received Him not. John 1:10-11 “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” She was willing to come from the utmost parts of the earth to find Solomon, yet they rejected Him as He stood right in front of them. The Queen of Sheba also serves as an example of how dedicated we should be to seeking the Truth through the Word of God. May we not reject the Truth that God has given us. “And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.” She. She was the sister of Mary of Bethany. She hosted Jesus in her house. Luke 10:38 “Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.” While He was there, they would both sit at the feet of Jesus to hear Him speak Words of Wisdom. “which also sat” This phrase tells us that Mary was not the only one who sat at His feet. She was there too at some point. She had a desire to serve because she heard His Word. Martha serves as an example of the effect of spending time at the feet of Jesus to hear His Word. “And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.” She. She found Jesus amongst the crowd of people. Luke 8:43-44 “And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.” She touched the hem of His garment by faith. Luke 8:45 “And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?” Jesus knew who she was. He even knew her name, though she is nameless to us. He asked the question so that others could know her too. Luke 8:48 “And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.” It was by her faith that she was immediately healed. The Woman With An Issue Of Blood also serves as an example of how when we come to Jesus by faith, He will save us immediately from our sins. 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. “Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.” She. She was aware of her condition. She was a sinner. She wept over her sin at the feet of the Saviour. Luke 7:38 “And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.” Her weeping turned to worship. Luke 7:47 “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.” Christ forgave her sins when she came to Him. The Woman In The City also serves as an example of how Christ is ready and willing to forgive our sins if only we will come to Him. We are all sinners in need of a Saviour. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Once we have trusted Christ, we become sinners saved by grace. God sees us through the blood of His Son. Romans 3:24-26 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” It is His righteousness that we are given, not our own. “And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,” She. She came for one reason. She knew that Jesus was in the house of Simon the Pharisee. She knew enough about Him to provoke her to come to where He was. She purposefully brought an alabaster box of ointment. Luke 7:38 “And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.” Her act of reverence caused Simon to question Jesus. Luke 7:39 “Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.” Just like us, she was a sinner in need of a Saviour. Jesus saw her faith, and forgave her of all that she had done. Luke 7:48 “And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.” Luke 7:50 “And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” The Woman In The City serves as an example of how we can come to Jesus as a sinner in need of a Saviour, and He will forgive us. “Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.” She. She was a widow, who had one son. She received compassion from Jesus. There is no record that anyone asked Him to help, He simply reacted to her obviously sorrow. Luke 7:13 “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.” She saw Jesus resurrect her son. Luke 7:14-15 “And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.” Jesus touched the coffin that the Jews carried him in, and simply commanded him to “Arise.” Her son was the first person that Jesus raised from the dead. The multitude of witnesses all rejoiced with godly fear and glorified God for what Christ had done. Luke 7:16 “And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.” This miracle caused the fame of Jesus to spread farther as people began to realize just Who He is. Luke 7:17 “And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.” The Widow of Nain serves as an example of the miracles that Christ can perform in our lives simply because of His love for us. When the Lord works miracles, we must do just as the multitudes did that day…glorify Him. Bible Reading: Hosea 9-10 | Hebrews 13 | Psalm 126-127 Luke 2:36
“And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;” She. She was humble and faithful. She believed in the prophecies that she had heard for many years about the coming Messiah. Luke 2:37 “And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” She was old in age, but young in heart. She was devoted to serving God. She patiently and faithfully watched for His coming. Luke 2:38 “And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.” She was the first to proclaim Jesus as Christ. She spoke of the redemption that was found in Him to many in Jerusalem. After Mary and Joseph left the temple where Simeon blessed them and declared that Jesus was for a sign, she once again returned to faithfully fast and pray. But if was different then, for her faith had become sight. She had seen her Lord, and would spend the rest of her days telling of the redemption He offers. Anna serves as an example of true faithfulness and determination to tell others about the redemptive work of Christ. Bible Reading: Hosea 7-8 | Hebrews 12 | Psalm 124-125 |
