Proverbs 19:11
“The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.” Wisdom empowers the longsuffering of our actions while also enabling us to have a forgiving spirit toward those who have wronged us. Ephesians 4:31-32 “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” God forgave us for our sins the moment we placed our faith in the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us; and in doing so, made it possible for us to also have the power to forgive one another. Romans 12:20-21 “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Make the choice today to put away the wrong doing of others, and allow the Wisdom that God has given to shine through you. Ecclesiastes 8:1 “Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.” Bible Reading: Genesis 21-22 | John 11 | Proverbs 11

Proverbs 19:10
“Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.” There is no true delight in foolishness, for joy is found only in Wisdom. The foolish, in their own ignorance, confuse the pleasures of sin for delight. Proverbs 15:21 “Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.” Wisdom allows us to live righteously, for the righteousness of Jesus Christ becomes our own when we choose to trust in Him. We cannot understand what it means to delight in the Lord if we do not first know the Lord ourselves. Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” When we delight in Him, we will soon find delight in His Word for He is the Word of God. Psalm 1:1-2 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Choose today to delight in the Wisdom of the Word rather than the folly of the flesh. “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.” Lying has its consequences. A similar verse appears just four verses beforehand: Proverbs 19:5 “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.” We will find ourselves imprisoned when we neglect to tell the truth. One lie is never enough; more lies must cover up the original indiscretion. The only way to find freedom is to know the Truth. John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The walls of our prison will eventually come crashing down upon us if we refuse to allow the Truth to set us free. Satan is the father of lies, and he desires to turn our prison into our deathbed. The greatest lie we can believe is when the devil tries to convince us that religion is enough. Matthew 7:21-23 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Allow the Word of God to shine within your heart today and reveal the Truth. Your eternity depends upon it. Bible Reading: Genesis 17-18 | John 9 | Proverbs 9 Proverbs 19:8
“He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.” Our effort in getting wisdom determines how much Wisdom we apply to our lives. The more we understand and apply the Truth of God’s Word, the more good we will find. Psalm 19:7-11 “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” Get Wisdom. A simple command with immense promise, for with Wisdom lies more benefits than anything money can buy. Proverbs 4:5 “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.” Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 16:16 “How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!” On the contrary, when we refuse to put forth the effort, we are sure to reap the consequences of a lack of Wisdom. Proverbs 15:32 “He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.” Each day, we choose how much effort we put into getting Wisdom. When we are not pursuing Him, we refuse Him. Bible Reading: Genesis 15-16 | John 8 | Proverbs 8 Proverbs 19:4-7
“Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape. Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.” Prosperity tends to attract, while poverty often divides. Proverbs 14:20 “The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.” Gifts given in love are not always received in the same manner. While it is more blessed to give than receive, our flesh sometimes desires to receive much more than we are willing to give. Those who are limited in the amount of gifts they can give sometimes allow jealousy to interfere with their expression of love; often realizing that so much more can be given outside of material things. There are many ways to show our love without spending a dime. Our time is the most valuable commodity we possess; and with 24 hours in each day, we each have the same amount available to give. Time spent with those we love is never wasted. Our presence often speaks louder than any object we can buy. Sometimes a friend just needs us to sit beside them with a cup of coffee. Our service to others is also one of the best gifts we can give that money cannot buy. We can share the love of Christ through serving those who need help or just a reminder that someone cares for them. 2 Corinthians 9:7 “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” Rather than focusing on things, choose to show your love and compassion for others through the giving of your time and presence while serving those around you. Hebrews 13:16 “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” We have the opportunity to give so much more of ourselves. Give the gifts that money cannot buy. Bible Reading: Genesis 13-14 | John 7 | Proverbs 7 Proverbs 19:3
“The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.” From the Garden of Eden to where each of us is today, our sin interferes with who we are and where we go. Adam and Eve lived in innocence until sin interfered. Genesis 3:6-7 “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” We inherited the consequence of their sin. Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Christ’s death and resurrection make it possible for us to live in Wisdom despite the sin we inherited. Romans 5:19 “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Even in righteousness, sin still tries to interfere; therefore, we must be aware of how sin can interfere with our walk with the Lord. Sin twists our thoughts until we start to justify the actions that God condemns. Sin twists our beliefs until we begin to question what the Word of God says. Resist the interference of sin today by guarding your heart with the Truth. Bible Reading: Genesis 11-12 | John 6 | Proverbs 6 Proverbs 19:1-2
“Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.” No matter how poor we are, if our souls are complete in God, it is much better than being lost in foolishness. Matthew 16:26 “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Our souls are thirsty for something that only our Creator can fulfill. We long for Him because He made us in His image. Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” The Creator of the universe made us for His glory. He gave us the ability to know and love Him because He is our Creator. Isaiah 43:7 “Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” He called us. He formed us. He made us. He has a purpose for each of us, which we can know if we will simply seek Him through His Word. Bible Reading: Genesis 9-10 | John 5 | Proverbs 5 Proverbs 18:23
“The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.” God has a purpose in every thing, even poverty. In the poorest of times, financially or otherwise, our spirits are more yielded to God and yearning for Him to move. We tend to be more humble when we need something from God. Where there is no need, we rely on ourselves rather than on the One that provided everything we have. Proverbs 18:24 “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Every friendship requires us to be friendly, but especially our friendship with Christ. He called us His friends; do we consider Him our Friend? John 15:15 “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” Any true friendship is worth contributing to, but how much more so is one with the Son of God, Jesus Christ! He is willing to be closer to us than any one else. John 15:5-8 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” We long for closeness and friendship, often looking in all the wrong places. Run to Jesus today, He is waiting with open arms, just as He was when He died on the cross for the sins of the world. Bible Reading: Genesis 7-8 | John 4 | Proverbs 4 Proverbs 18:22
“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.” God saw fit to put Adam to sleep, and remove a rib from him to make a help meet to be by his side. God established marriage, and He delights in His creation, seeing it as a good thing for a man and woman to come together as one in His sight. Just as a man must seek to find a good wife, Wisdom must be sought after. In order to be found, we must be sought after while actively seeking to be found. When that happens, God declares it to be a good thing. Who we wait upon is what matters. If we simply wait on a husband, or whatever need we have, we incorrectly place our faith in waiting on an object rather than the One Who can supply the need when He sees fit to do so. Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” When we wait upon God, we find favour from the Lord. Proverbs 8:34-35 “Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.” We are found and favoured when we wait upon the Lord. Do not rush into doing something on your own accord or timing today. Wait on Him. Bible Reading: Genesis 5-6 | John 3 | Proverbs 3 Proverbs 18:20-21
“A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” What comes out of us says so much about what is within us. The fruit we yield tells the story of what we sow. Ecclesiastes 10:12-14 “The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?” What do our words say about us? We are known by the fruit of our lives, and we must take account of how we are living by what we are producing. Luke 6:43-45 “For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Jesus Christ warned us Himself of how important this Truth is, are we living by what He said?
